In October 2021 we will start our jubilee theatre tour ‘Di Zilberne Chassene (The Silver Wedding). We will performe with, among others, local heroes such as Ferry Heijne of De Kift, Gregor Engelen of Antwerp Gypsy Ska, Bert Hadders and Piter Wilkens from Groningen and Friesland and Laurens Joenssen from Zeeland.

The Amsterdam Klezmer Band will celebrate its silver anniversary on 24 September in
Theater Carré!
Started on the streets in 1996, they have since developed into a crowd-pleaser and festival
favorite. All over Europe! From Paradiso to North Sea Jazz, from Lowlands to Sziget, and
from the Wiener Konzerthaus to the Amsterdam Concertgebouw, the septet is creating
furore as virtuoso omnivores. Razor-sharp they combine everything on the cutting edge of
klez, jazz, ska, pop and hip-hop.
2021: nineteen albums and hundreds of concerts later, this Mokum-based magnificent seven
will celebrate their 25th anniversary in Carré. They will be supported by the Amsterdam
Andalusian Orchestra, Meral Polat and Ellen ten Damme.
Club Amsterdam Klezmer @ De Tanker
We’ve got a new AKB online music session coming up !
This edition of Club Amsterdam Klezmer is set in the wonderful Tanker in Noord. We did a one-take 35 minute session with a selection of strong AKB tunes. No edits, no cutting inbetween songs, all first takes! Accordionist Ellen van Vliet is sitting in for Theo van Tol, who unfortunately couldn’t make it this time. Come and join us in this intimate setting. All video has been recorded with our own mobile phones.

We are moving towards the end of 2020. Therefore we gladly like to to draw your attention to our NEW YEARS EVE CAK online edition. Featuring special guests Benjamin Herman (alto sax), Joost Kroon (drs) and Jos de Haas (percussion). Three original members from the famous New Cool Collective. They have been going strong for 25 years with their unique mix of jazz, latin, afrobeat and boogaloo.

New Club Amsterdam Klezmer Online!
Recently we had the fortune to play a concert in one of our all time favorite venues: Paradiso. Despite the seemingly everlasting COVID misery, still 250 people were allowed to enjoy the show. 250 is not a bad number these days, but we want more! And we hope you too… because this Thursday we will be able to enjoy this memorable evening once again! Despite all covid limitations the show in Paradiso became one of our absolute 2020 highlights..it was a relief to be able to play a decent show after all these empty months. Therefore a big up to Paradiso and our hometown audience!
Coming Thursday the 29th of October we’ll broadcast the highlights of our AKB 2020 Paradiso concert at Club Amsterdam Klezmer ONLINE. We are proud that we’re still going strong and we’re eager to share the music and lovely ambience with you.
New release: Shabash – New version
We are excited to share our new single with all of you! As you could read in our previous newsletter we decided to make a new version of your favorite song: Shabash. The song is based on a Moldavian Traditional called “Sufletelul Meu”. This strong tune is long played and covered by musicians from Romania and Moldova. Alec Kopyt decided to make his own version.
