Club Amsterdam Klezmer Online continues
Club Amsterdam Klezmer Online – September 2020
After a successful launch we now proudly present: the second edition of Club Amsterdam Klezmer Online! As you may know, being able to organise our Club Amsterdam Klezmer Nights means a lot to us. That is why we decided to make it into an online event so everyone can safely party with us. The format is similar to the live version. There will be an AKB live-performance with different musical themes, musical guests, interviews and visual art by Martin Draax.
The second CAK Online will be on 24-09-2020 with special guest Mehmet Polat playing solo on his UD. Mehmet Polat is a master ud player, composer, ensemble leader and soloist who tours internationally. From Africa to India, Persia to the Balkans, Contemporary to Jazz, he has been combining various musical genres with his Alevi Spiritual, Anatolian Folk and Ottoman classical music background. Through his improvisations, compositions and his own take on a variety of musical styles, Mehmet is constantly searching for new musical paths and inspiration. After many years of research, he invented his own technique to advance beyond the limitations of his traditional instrument. We hope you will tune in on September 24th. Let’s stay in contact and…stay healthy !

Maghreb & Mediene
A Musical Spectacle by Amsterdam Klezmer Band and Amsterdams Andalusisch Orkest
We decided to team up and create a musical theatre show. Our collaboration is now a fact, and named Maghreb & Mediene. The show will be on tour, starting November 2019. These concerts are designed for a seated audience.
The Amsterdams Andalusisch Orkest is directed by violinist Abderrahim Semlali on his quest to the roots of North African traditional music. Their search results in a fusion of Arabo Andalusian music styles from all around the Mediterranean Sea. They play a blend of dynamic(al) rhythms, Melancholic melodies and fine improvisations on a mix of eastern and western instruments.. A colourful company of driven musicians, that build a bridge between arabic and jewish culture. Together they create a festive mix of adventurous Chosidls, Chaabi Andalus, Cocek, Tarab, Sirba tunes and not to forget the Sufi Andalusi melodies with its beautiful, mystical solos. Further on, you will be enlightened by rattling brass, raging accordion bursts, jubilant reeds, vocal highlights and who knows what else …
All from Amsterdam!
16.11 – Eindhoven, Muziekgebouw Frits Philips
19.11 – Den Haag, De Nieuwe Regentes
30.11 – Utrecht, Tivolivredenburg

Young, old, freak, student or expat, everybody’s welcome at Mezrab. We’d like to thank everybody for being to send and sending us positive feedback. Big up for our musical guests and the CAK team.
We hope to see you back next season!
